Grivel G12 crampons- When you’re hanging off an ice fall or high up on a steep snow slope you are really depending on your equipment. One of the last things you want to fail would probably be your crampons. This is why I stick with the quality and durability of Grivel. They’ve been in the business making crampons for over 80 years! I personally think the G-12-New-matic design works the best for me. The toe of my boot is held in by an extremely durable Zytel DuPont plastic harness. I find this system works great as my boots only have a rear bale. Grivel’s anti balling plate minimizes build up, keeping your feet solid. In addition, the crampons are fully adjustable by hand, no need for any tools. And that’s quite handy, because we are all bound to forget to pre-adjust the size for the first ski touring trip of the season and no one likes being strung out balancing on a steep slope.

A classic 12-point crampon designed for general mountaineering, alpinism, mixed ice and rock climbing, and moderate waterfall routes. The four points that are perpendicular to the crampon rails, prevent shearing in soft snow and improve security while descending (facing outward).
