With a large-volume design, strippable features and our patent-pending reACTIV^™suspension and SwingArm^™ shoulder straps, the Black Diamond Speed 55 is built for multi-day, light-and-fast alpine missions. The Speed's hipbelt, 4 mm aluminum frame, framsheet and top lid are all removable when you want to shave ounces, and a tuck-away rope strap, IceLink^™ tool attachments, 3-point haul system and welded crampon patch ensure everything is lashed down securely.

One pack to do it all

I recently took the BD Speed 55 pack on a 7 day mountaineering adventure. The pack held all my gear for the entire week plus a 60m rope, and I was able to strap all my equipment (ice axe, hammer, crampons and helmet) effectively on the outside. The new ice link tool attachments held my axe and hammer perfectly and with the crampon patch I was never worried about puncturing through my pack. Throughout the week I carried various loads of up to 25kg and for a light weight pack it was extremely supportive and comfortable. I can’t wait to use it again on my next adventure.
